2022 Ford Bronco Raptor Proves To Be A Showstopper In Detroit
Detroit Auto Show attendees have a plethora of exciting new vehicles to check out at the event and of them, the Ford Bronco Raptor is certainly one of the most exciting.
This particular Bronco Raptor is finished in a stunning color that Ford dubs Eruption Green Metallic. We happen to think it suits the potent off-roader perfectly and really glistens under the lights in Detroit. Helping to ensure the paint isn’t overbearing, the exterior features a multitude of black accents, including the Raptor’s flared wheel arches, grille, roof, and wheels.
In developing the Bronco Raptor, Ford decided not to equip it with a big V8 like the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 and instead went with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 pumping out 418 hp and 440 lb-ft (596 Nm) of torque. That’s much more than the 2.3-liter EcoBoost Bronco with its 300 hp and 325 lb-ft (440 Nm) and the 2.6-liter EcoBoost V6 model that’s rated at 330 hp and 415 lb-ft (562 Nm) of torque. However, it is some 52 hp and 30 lb-ft (41 Nm) down on the Wrangler Rubicon 392.
It’s not just a powerful engine that makes the Bronco Raptor special. New shock towers have been installed to increase wheel travel while Ford has also fitted new control arches and larger-diameter inner and outer tie rod ends. The off-roader also rocks FOX dampers with an internal bypass and semi-active design that monitor the height of each wheel hundreds of times each second. Various chassis improvements result in a 50 percent increase in total body-in-prime torsional rigidity.
